Costa Rica Day 1

12 37 pm Drinking an Imperial, while sitting at this computer, typing on a keypad, letters are all in whiteout. i finally made it to Costa Rica.

Backtrack a few days,

I left Aruba early, not because it wasn't a beautiful country. Nope, that wasn't the case at all. The beaches were straight out of a romantic film. I will leave it at that. If you are on a cruise ship, take the day to spend on shore . Wear sunblock. Drink the local beer Balashi. Suck it up and pay the $13 for a damn sandwich. And make sure you are with a special someone! even if it is your lap dog Muffy!

I arrived in Arizona late on Monday night. Tessandra picked me up from Sky Harbor and we went to Saddleranch. The new Mickeys in my book. Had some wine....and a gigantic plate of yummy greasy nachos. Amazing! Back at her place we finished off with some cookies and cream Dreyers ice cream.

I spent the next day repacking my suitcase...how do you pack for yoga on the costa rica beaches vs. being fashionably warm in Seattle? and wherever else I might end up. I also spent quite a good amount of time online looking at places to stay once I got to Costa Rica. Once my eyes started going cross eyed I gave up. Threw on some summer clothes, yeaaah for Az heat! And headed back to Saddleranch to get my sister*she works there. We went to Acme, and this is where it all went down hill.
First of all, I rarely drink. And for some reason when I am in AZ I feel the need to make up for all those days I've missed on drinking. So here goes+ wine, champagne, pineapple shot, red icky shot, which led to..........fast food! Now I haven't eaten that crap in years. It just seemed like the thing to do. Life or death that I have Taco Bell at 2AM. Unlucky for me, none were open. Second best Jack in The Box. After bites of fish, fries, tacos, some choco shake,an egg roll thrown in for+the cute girls+ my stomach is turning just recounting what shit I put in it. I woke up feeling as such. Shit.

But the trip must go on. So back to my parents house I went at 9am, where I gathered all my stuff. Somehow my suitcase still weighed the same after emptying half its contents. Damn cashews and protein bars I filled it with!

First flight...Phoenix to JFK. Window seat. I sat next to a really nice girl from my sister Theo's grade. She never knew her unfortunately. We were both happy to be sitting next to someone polite, small and that we could grab onto in case of an emergency. Who knew that would actually happen. I had my tray table down, and my head resting on it. Trying to sleep, when I feel our plane going down. Literally. People started shrieking, crying, my heart almost jumped out of my chest. What the fuck was going on? We were bumping all over as we were headed into the ground, the lights came on, the captain started speaking...all I heard was waaah waah waah or however it is said in Charlie Brown. We are going down!! And then up we started going....back up into the clouds where we belonged. I sat straight up for the rest of the flight, hands clenched to the armrests, face white as a ghost. Until...we landed. 30 minutes early. Crap!

My plan was to spend the evening in the JFK airport. last thing I wanted to do was arrive early. No choice in the matter, it was done. I walked up and down the airport trying to get a little workout in. Window shopped every single store. Ducked my head down when I could have sworn the girls in the gift shop recognized me. This was my 6th time in this airport in under 2 weeks. Had a salmon and vegetable dinner which my body applauded me for, with of course root beer. My current obsession. I started watching as each store closed down, people started trickling out of the airport....and then it was just me. And a million Jet Blue staff. See, the good thing about JFK is that Jet Blue has its own terminal. And it is nice!

537pm
Ok where was I...I had to take a nap. you'll understand in a minute.
So back to me and the jet blue terminal. My first attempt at sleep was in a chair, carry on suitcase tucked under one leg, purse on the seat next to me, pillow on top of purse, stolen southwest air blue blanket covering my legs, sweater covering the top part of me, and my virgin air sleep well eye mask on. My foot started to go to sleep, then the other one did. Not cool when your feet go to sleep before you. So I switched to the other side. Same thing happened. I took all my stuff into the corner, placed it all on top of each other, blanket over me, eye mask on, and curled up against my suitcase in another attempt at some rest. Apparently the floors weren't sparkling enough, the guy rode that cleaning mobile past me at least 10 times. I just kept telling myself, I can do this, I can fall asleep regardless of anything, bring it on! Despite a few dirty looks, and a major back cramp my floor situation didn't work as planned. So back up to the chairs. This time I positioned myself in a way too hard to describe, basically I was doubled over. Now it was 5am. Time to get up and check in for my 630am flight. This is when I found out I am not going to Costa Rica.....I am going to Orlando. THEN Costa Rica. I boarded first, that's the good thing about sitting in the last row of a plane, put that damn blanket and eye mask on, popped one of those thiswillmakeyourplanerideseasier pills my Dr gave me before I left...and woke up in Orlando. De boarded the plane, got frozen yogurt, and got right back on. Same seat, but this time nobody was sitting next to me. I layed across the row and woke up in Costa Rica.

Which brings me to now. After a little mishap with a cab driver dropping me off at an old folks home, where a woman missing all her teeth did her best to explain where I was, I finally arrived at my bed and breakfast. Where I am the ONLY guest, have a cute little room on the second floor, and drinks are all on the honor system. Meaning I stack up beans for every beer, soda , water I take. Too bad I cant boil those beans! Its been pouring and thundering since I arrived and I am hungry! Only so many protein bars and nuts I can handle for one day.

Tomorrow morning I am taking the bus to see a volcano. I will be putting up some pictures afterwards. Now.....screw it, I am going to find that tex mex place on my map and get some grub. A little rain never hurt anyone, Costa Rica rainy season....bring it on!
