2011
we spent a much needed 2 weeks out of town for the holidays, which really was the best way to start/end our year. az was wonderfuly warm with goofie golfing, family, pizza making, baking a banana mousse pumpkin tart for christmas dinner(thanks tori!) lots of 3d glasses wearing, topped with an amazing christmas morning before heading to the airport. we arrived in ohio to lots of family, snow, yummy treats, and a nice warm room with our very own christmas tree. literally. we were all over it;). i loved ohio, i loved everything about it. i loved that it was my first white christmas, i loved that it was with my favorite person,i loved that he gave me one boot, i loved that one day we were in russian fur hats, and the next we were in flip flops. i loved that j ice skated knowing that it was something he really couldn't do. i loved having no schedule and sleeping in every morning. i loved all the movies and shopping. i loved spending time with his family and can't wait to go back. i loved spending new years at the house together making our second pizza on our trip while drinking wine..and starting 2011 in the most splendid way possible.
today
these are pictures from my drive around town today. i just can't possibly take enough pictures of the sky here. i love the bridges in tempe over the lake which has currently gone missing. yes, the tempe town lake has disappeared. i made my mom turn the car around when i noticed a black building all alone on the side of the road with a cows head attached to it. she wants to go back and eat at the little aqua mexican restaurant, however under current az conditions, i think there might not be any more employees. i tried to capture the big white castle as we drove by and ended up with just green cactus streaks, but it somehow just feels right when i look at it. that castle was always such a mystery to me as a kid. the bottom picture i took a few blocks from my old house in tempe next to buffalo exchange. i really like the view of the palm trees from the ground. and bill johnson's, well that place is just classic. you should have seen the front of the restaurant... google it. its amazing.
bringing back the beret, hot pink lips and prom rat hair
i have no idea how i could have grown up in the desert, yet have the ability to forget how hot the summers are here. It took me 7 hours to get here, and i was in shock as i watched the temperature rise to almost double of what it is in Venice. At one point it was 108...and dark out, but thankfully it dropped to 96 before going to bed. After working yesterday i tried drinking water in my car and it was near boiling, my almonds had melted (is that possible?) and my flat iron in my back seat was ready to be used. Oh how i've missed you arizona.
